Celebrate Food... From Field to Table!
The goal of Nutrition Month(R) is to highlight nutrition as a key component of health, and focus on motivating and enabling Canadians to make informed food choices to improve their health. Nutrition Month(R) also stimulates nutrition activities in communities across Canada, profiling dietitians as the best source of reliable nutrition information.
During the month of March 2010 (and beyond), we want to:
- Encourage Canadians to celebrate the adundance and diversity of nutritious food available in Canada
- Help Canadian families learn where food comes from
- Relay accurate facts and dispel myths about Canadian food
- Showcase the knowledge and expertise of dietitians as leaders in food and nutrition
- Create an opportunity for parents, teachers and community leaders to educate children about food
This year the theme is "Celebrate food... from field to table!" (French slogan: "Célébrons nos aliments… de la terre à la table!") and will target Canadian families.
